Man Killed In Overnight Crash On Middle Country Road

A 57-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle crash that occurred overnight in Suffolk County.

Candace Porter was driving a 2015 Toyota Corolla northbound on Wading River Hollow Road when the vehicle collided with a 2005 Honda Sedan, driven by Necmi Gurel that was traveling westbound on Middle Country Road at approximately 12:10 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, Suffolk County Police said.

Gurel, of Farmingville, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, according to police.

Porter, 29, of Amityville, was transported via Ridge Rescue ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the crash to call the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
